The difference between these two pieces of equipment and what to expect from a class
When people think of Pilates equipment, the reformer often comes to mind first. But at Sabai Studio, you’ll also find two other versatile pieces of apparatus: the Tower and the Chair.
Here's how, together, they build strength, enhance mobility and improve balance, while offering a more dynamic and varied workout every time.

The Tower: length, strength and support ✨
The Tower is a vertical frame attached to a mat with springs, bars and straps. It’s designed to help you move with resistance while maintaining control, making it ideal for anyone working on core strength, flexibility and posture.
You’ll often use the Tower for movements such as leg springs, roll-downs, hip lifts and arm pulls. These exercises lengthen the body, strengthen stabilising muscles and encourage better spinal alignment.
Because the Tower provides stability, it allows you to move deeper into stretches and support your body through safe spinal decompression, helping you feel both stronger and more mobile.
The Chair: small but mighty 💪🏼
Also known as the Wunda Chair or Stability Chair, this compact piece of equipment is deceptively powerful. With a sturdy seat, pedal and adjustable springs, it’s brilliant for improving balance, coordination and lower-body engagement.
You might work through press-downs, step-ups, pikes, or tricep dips, all of which challenge multiple muscle groups at once. Because the surface is smaller, every move requires focus, helping you connect deeply to your core and alignment.
Fusion classes at Sabai
At Sabai Studio, you’ll find both pieces of equipment combined in our Tower & Chair 'Fusion' Classes.
These sessions blend the support of the Tower with the strength and control of the Chair, creating a full-body workout that’s fluid, balanced and endlessly varied.
You’ll build strength through spring resistance, improve mobility through controlled stretching, and develop stability through focused core engagement.
